I like to create art while eating cantaloupe and reading books from friends.
Art is a gift freely given, without expectations.
Given only with a hope and a dream.
A hope that we will appreciate the art more than we can ever pay the giver.
A dream that we will create a society.
As Seth Godin profoundly points out in Linchpin: โSociety is where we give gifts.โ
You can go to your day job, but you donโt have to go the extra mile for that customer.
But when you do, that person remembers it, and a bond of respect is created.
Friends donโt charge us for advice, they give it as a gift.
My best friend has given me many gifts, and theyโve all had a stroke of art in them.
๐๐ฒ'๐ ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐บ๐ฒ the gift of seeing his gentle yet unapologetic imagination in action.
๐๐ฒ'๐ ๐ต๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐บ๐ฒ appreciate the road less traveled, and the open freeway to unlimited potential from which we so often shy away.
๐๐ฒ'๐ ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐บ๐ฒ the gift of laughter.
๐๐ฒ'๐ ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐บ๐ฒ the gift of leading by his own example and sharing a silent camaraderie with all those who also follow their own hearts.
๐๐ฒ'๐ ๐ด๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐บ๐ฒ the gift of himself.
Thank you kind friend.ย
This book made me fall in love with the labor of love even more.
To answer my above question โ I believe art is when we respect the gift of art itself.ย
So go on, and eat your cantaloupe, but ๐ฎ๐๐ธ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ณ:

Donโt compromise.ย Seek ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ต.
