𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 վօմɾ 𝙖𝙧𝙩? 🧙♂
I like to create art while eating cantaloupe and reading books from friends.
Art is a gift freely given, without expectations.
Given only with a hope and a dream.
A hope that we will appreciate the art more than we can ever pay the giver.
A dream that we will create a society.
As Seth Godin profoundly points out in Linchpin: “Society is where we give gifts.”
You can go to your day job, but you don’t have to go the extra mile for that customer.
But when you do, that person remembers it, and a bond of respect is created.
Friends don’t charge us for advice, they give it as a gift.
My best friend has given me many gifts, and they’ve all had a stroke of art in them.
𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲 the gift of seeing his gentle yet unapologetic imagination in action.
𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 appreciate the road less traveled, and the open freeway to unlimited potential from which we so often shy away.
𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲 the gift of laughter.
𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲 the gift of leading by his own example and sharing a silent camaraderie with all those who also follow their own hearts.
𝗛𝗲'𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲 the gift of himself.
Thank you kind friend.
This book made me fall in love with the labor of love even more.
To answer my above question – I believe art is when we respect the gift of art itself.
So go on, and eat your cantaloupe, but 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳:
𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙄 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙮 “𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪”,
𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙨𝙤 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚?
Don’t compromise. Seek 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵.
Lσʋҽ,
Rσɱαɳ
