Men are mental.
We mentally set ourselves up for failure, as we lock our hearts in the cages we create.
We bow down to the cultural imperium that tells us we’re toxic.
We begin to believe that we’re weak if we assert strength.
We choose to read biographies, instead of writing our own.
We choose to be “all in this together” because we don’t know how to be “all in this” ourselves.
We run like scared boys from anything related to “mental health” because others’ perception is more powerful.
More powerful than the strong man who doesn’t give himself permission to act.
We used to be warriors who came back after a hunt.
Now we don’t come back, and we don’t hunt.
We isolate ourselves on the hollow mountains of Oz, while armies of pigs and ogres wait to devour our once battle-tested hearts.
We have forgotten how to fight our own holy wars because we believe we’re sinners.
We’ve committed sins, but does this make us sinners?
Are we sinners if we seek redemption?
No.
We are healers.
We provide.
We suffer so that our children and queens may live.
We do not care what retribution, or name-calling is foisted upon us.
We trust the fire in our hearts to be not the flame that burns us down, but the light that lifts us up to God.
When we let the feathers of our hearts fly high enough to float on the impossible, our souls become as immortal as the Sun.
We are willing to die to our past selves, and so we are reborn.
We are Brothers in the Light.
Join us.
“Be thine own palace, or the world's thy jail.
And in the world's sea, do not
like cork sleep
Upon the water's face; nor in the deep
Sink like a lead without a line; but as
Fishes glide, leaving no print where they pass,
Nor making sound, so closely thy course go;
Let men dispute whether thou breathe or no.”
- John Donne
