I also have a few typewriters with extra ribbons and a lot of paper. Life doesn't have to stop after electricity. I also told my cell phone provider that once 5G is enforced, I'll prefer to be without a phone.

One must not forget about the subliminal conditioning out there on the Internet and in movies. Mind manipulation by light is also probably there is Windows...

Do you think here is a way, by combining various types of fixtures, to compensate for the imbalance of light indoors, especially when one must stare at a screen as I do, most of the day?

Another great article, R&B! Thank you for your tireless research. I feel myself getting seduced by that little computer. I will have to start saving for one.

Oh, I wish I could leave my door open like that! I'm dealing with a posse of squirrels right now, and in just five minutes, with the door open, I'd have one or more inside. I was putting peanuts out for one sweet, shy little grey squirrel, and then the word got out...Barbara's got peanuts. One of them outsmarted the squirrel baffle on the bird feeder (the first time in over a year!), and now they all seem to want a turn at it. The cute little, might I say, aggressive red squirrels are jumping up on my window screens and staring at me through my full-length glass kitchen door. I think I've lost my Snow White status since I took away the peanuts. :(

I remember being so happy that this little house has 25 windows and three doors. And then I learned about the good light the glass is blocking. Probably thanks to you! :)

Instead, I get outside and into the woods as much as I can daily. I just got back, so let's see if I can get some work done on this evil MacBook Air.

Hi Barbara! We're so happy you're still getting value out of the articles, and enjoy them (: Those squirrels sure are a feisty bunch, and yes the red ones especially. They're more agile, and lean and mean - maybe they eat more red food so it makes them more aggressive, or they're hot and bothered (: Or maybe the red squirrels are sign that you need more red light (:.

Maybe one day you can get all the windows re-fitted with quartz. Although pricey, quartz lets in most of the solar spectrum. I don't have quartz windows, yet. If you need to reduce blue light easily, without buying another computer - iris + glasses is definitely the way to go.

Is that the name of the brand? I do have a pair of blue blockers but never sure if they’re the best to use. That lil computer is sure tempting for a writer. 🤭

I think Matilda the red squirrel is a total Pitta (nothing against Pitta types…) unlike Rocky the grey squirrel - total Kapha. I think he’s just as upset by the invasion as I am. I’ve started leaving peanuts in the woods for them so maybe they’ll stop trying to break into my house. Quartz windows! How dreamy would that be? 💎 For now, I’ll just keep getting outside as much as possible. ☀️ ❄️ This is my favorite time of year!

I love how you categorized those squirrels into doshas...if only they knew how much you know them, better than they know themselves (: I love this time of year too - the quiet and cold = not a lot of people out, less noise etc.

Iris is the name of the app I installed on my computer to reduce flicker and red light. https://iristech.co/i/wUOIy

The name of the computer is Daylight computer.

Thank for the info, Roman! Haha, the squirrels 🐿️! I’m leaving them peanuts in the woods as a peace offering.

Make sure both of you are taking astaxanthin 12 mg daily along with bilberry, lutein and zeazaxnthin. They have both been amazing for my eyes and skin, been taking both for many years. I get Mercola brand or Sports Research astaxanthin from iherb.com and I get Eyes Love Lutein from Vitacost.com or Taoofherbs.com. All these places have great prices and iherb.com has a 20% off sale on supplements until 1/15/2025.

Sorry if you covered this and I missed it - but do house windows filter out some of the good light or are they great for getting sun in the winter?

Expand full comment

Great question Lovejoy. Yes most modern windows filter out most of the health benefits.

Much of the infrared is blocked, and this type of light is what regenerates us. UV is totally blocked, and that's what helps us sync our hormones, such as vit D for our immune system. Not to mention that the balance of light is disrupted, whereas outside we get the full spectrum (cracking windows helps as particles of light flood in).

To solve this without opening windows, you get quartz window panes installed, but these are pricey. That's why I'm a big proponent of infrared light/ sauna throughout the year, esp winter.

Does that help clarify?

Here's a pic of a modern window:

Thank you - I'm sitting in front of my sauna space glow light now and extra happy I splurged on it for Christmas! I'm looking to put in a small sun room or mini greenhouse on the south side of my house (for me and plants galore) but the window situation puts a damper on it! Hopefully I can find a healthier option.

I had to get new windows & all my houseplants died. Coincidence? I dunno. I have a full spectrum vitalight from years ago & manage to keep an Aloe plant mostly alive with minimal use.

Great article!!! Alternatives are always great.

Nosferatu definitely has a melanin problem, and blue light toxic - if Nos got more red light, probably wouldn't need red blood. Poor creature. Thanks for appreciating the article Jonathan - should have Anjan Katta on our podcast sometime soon. The guy is really changing the tech landscape. Yes - we could say all this is, is a "safer" screen, but it's a screen we can bring outdoors, which is a game changer.

very kind of you. The key I think is not just the safer screen, it's the fact that we can now have it outside, while bathing in the natural EMF of the Sun.

Hi me! Thank you for your comment. Yes the sunlight will definitely help offset the artificial wavelengths, as light bends and refracts. I didn't know that about propolis!

One thing about earthing - we need to be aware of ground current, which is very present in North America and can make us an antenna for even more EMF toxicity when we ground in the wrong spot (even with grounding rods connected to an earthing sheet).
