I don't believe that all happens for us. I believe things happen, and then it matters what we do with them. We can give in, get destructive. In your case, wonderfully, you did all you could to get the relationship back on track. I also wonder (and do not expect an answer): what within your wife made the breakdown happen during the honeymoon? Was it feeling safe enough to break down? Or , very differently, did marriage rather bring up something within her? Etc?
Fantastic questions Elsa. I believe Bohdanna broke down because she finally felt safe enough to do so, and was in an emotional hospital that was supportive enough for her life to undergo reconstruction e.g. she was with me! (: She was also at that point in life, as was I, where we decided to commit to the long haul, both to ourselves and to each other. I knew I needed to improve many things about my life and habits in order for her to stand a chance and have a support network, so instead of focusing on her, I turned inward. Counterintuitively, I believe it worked.
I still work on myself each day, and like they say, love is a boomerang.
