There are many alternatives out there, some that can do more harm than good. SAD (seasonal affective disorder) lamps are a problem, b/c their brightness level (lux) is too high at that time, so our nervous system recognizes that light as solar noon, impacting digestion, mood etc.
We like red and near infrared lighting, as this type of light is always present, especially moreso at sunrise.
